Robert I. Larus Award


The Robert I. Larus Award is presented to a graduate student for his/her outstanding research.  

The winner is selected from among competing students presenting posters at the Robert I. Larus Award Competition that will be held on Saturday October 10 at the Natural Sciences Building, College of Natural Sciences, Río Piedras Campus of the University of Puerto Rico.

The winner receives a cash award and all expenses covered to present the work at the AAAS Annual Meeting on February 18 – 22, 2010, at San Diego, California.  The second place winner receives a cash award.

The participants can also participate in the annual AAAS Caribbean Division Conference.  The conference will be held on October 24, 2009 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center, San Juan.  The top 10 finalists in the competition will receive free registration to the AAAS Caribbean Division Conference.  The Robert I. Larus Award presentation ceremony will be held at the Conference.

Interested parties must REGISTER AND send an abstract to Dr. Denny S. Fernández del Viso, 

gamezdenny.fernandez@upr.edu. Abstract must be RECEIVED no later than September 15.

The text of the abstract should not exceed 250 words and the title is limited to 45 characters, 

followed by address and e-mail. The poster should be 90 cm x 120 cm and will be defended in 

English and the winner must be prepared to travel abroad.
