Lucy Gaspar Award for Excellence in Science Education
The Lucy Gaspar Award for excellence in science education is granted to teachers of science who demonstrate an outstanding performance and devotion for the advancement of the advancement of science. The winners of this award receive:
1. A one year membership to the AAAS.
2. A commemorative trophy.
3. Five hundred dollars cash prize.
4. Five hundred dollars for activities involving students. |
Requisites are:
1. Science teacher at the K -12 level within the areas comprised by the Caribbean Division.
2. Nomination by peers or students.
3. Involvement with students in science activities such as: science fair, science clubs, research mentoring.
4. Member of scientific associations.
5. Publications on science education in journals or newspapers.
6. Presentations in education meetings.
7. The nominee must demonstrate commitment to professional improvement and ability to transfer this improvement into classroom. |
